Michael Shaw Music
it's about making music
Biography
After years of spiritual search and musical
experience, Michael Shaw has combined the
two loves of his life into one eclectic CD:
Something Simple.
Michael has been singing for as long as he
can remember. Growing up with sister
singer-songwriter Judi Donaghy, Michael
learned how to create intricate harmonies at
a young age.
Once out in the world, Michael was busy in Musical Theater with a
12 year career that took him around the United States, Europe
and Japan. He returned to New York in the early 90’s to take a
break and get a day job. But the hiatus never really happened as
he started writing music almost immediately and performed in
numerous Cabaret venues in the City. He continued to work days
while recording and performing Musical Theater readings in New
York.
Central to his experience was a constant spiritual search. And it
seemed only natural to express that experience in music. Michael
recorded his first collection A New Voice in the early 90’s.
Post 9/11, it was time to get serious about music again. Michael
returned to school in order to gain a more comprehensive
experience in the music field, and graduated from McNally Smith
contemporary music college. Then he relocated to the east coast
where he now lives in Washington DC.
Since then Michael has recorded four CD’s:
- Longest Night – an instrumental collection of songs for
meditation and relaxation
- He is Within Me – music and spoken word, excerpts
from Lessons in Truth
- Something Simple – an eclectic collection of
inspirational music centered on New Thought principles
- A Quiet Christmas- traditional Holiday Favorites
Michael can be heard around the Washington DC metropolitan
area as a soloist and with various groups.
